A downloadable game for Windows

A strange terminal guides a solitary robot through a labyrinth.

Made for the GMTK Game Jam in 48 hours - an experiment with dual purpose design.

The main gimmick is the strange terminal you control the protagonist through. It designates certain direction keys to have certain (usually troublesome) secondary effects - such as turning the lights out if you move to the left.

The second main mechanic is the charging areas. To maintain battery life you must enter these areas - however doing so will add to or change the secondary effects bound to your movement keys (depending on the key being pressed when you enter them). Also these charging areas temporarily disable any secondary effects bound to your keys - use this fact to your advantage to navigate the areas.

well, i havent beaten it yet. BUT I think this is brilliant. i really do. Fantastic work.

small bug report: pressing escape crashed the game for me.

As a fellow RPGmaker user, i was very impressed with this.

Yeah, because this was made over a weekend for a game jam, there's plenty of bugs like that.

I did work on a newer version that fixed all (most of, at least) the bugs and re-worked the gameplay, but I never got round to finishing it. Something to work on when I've finished with my current project perhaps.

I've been meaning to play your game CRACKED, saw it on reddit the other day. A horror rpg maker game that does something original with the engine is right up my street. I'll get round to it this weekend!

well i really hope you do finish this cause i enjoyed it. The idea, and the look. and thanks, It was a pretty rapidly made project for me too, but id had the idea for years and tried to make it several times, and it never worked, but this time it clicked. It still has my full attention so i may expand it and fix and adjust things. ahh the fun of game development.

I want to know more about the robot and the place he's in!

If you develop this further, please implement a "reset room" button. Taking one step too far and needing to do the power loop for the seventh time in a row was aggravating, and there were some places it was possible to get stuck to the wall.

I know - it's really annoying! I'm keeping the mechanics of the game but re-doing all the level design.

With some better designed areas, getting stuck should be less of a problem. I've also introduced a new item you can find which acts as a '1up' - it refills your battery when you die and resets your input effects, freeing you if you're trapped.

What I'm really excited about is implementing the story. You'll get to know more about that robot someday!
